Q: Are DS flashcards legal?

A: It is legal if you:

1. Play homebrewed (public games) - Lots of homebrewed GBA and DS games available online that you can download freely. Most of them are free and a lot of them come with source code that you can modify the games yourself.

2. Write your own GBA or DS games - With flashcards, you can develop your own games. You do not have to spend lots of money buying the development toolkits.

3. Play the commercial games if you own the original copies - If you own the original game cartridges, you have the right to have a copy of the games you own. You can play them from the backup copies.

It is not legal if you:

1. Play commercial (copyrighted) games that you do not own.

2. Play copyrighted MP3 songs that you do not own.

3. Play copyrighted video clips that you do not own.

 

Q: What is the difference between R4DS and R4DS3 Upgrade?

1. R4DS holds maximun memory of 2GB Micro SD Cards

2. R4DS3 can hold from 2GB Micro SD to 32GB Micro SDHC cards

3. R4DS3 has longer battery life with Nintendo DS/DS Lite when the flash cart is being used, (example R4DS 2 hours, R4DS3 - 10 hours.

 

Q: Do you need a R4DS in order to purchase a R4DS3 and does the software on R4DS work on R4DS3?

1. The R4DS3 can be used without the R4DS. They are each there own individual flash cart.

2. The R4DS3 has it's own software and is not compaitble with the R4DS.
